This event qualifies for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH)

TRB’s SHRP 2 Tuesdays Webinar: Incorporating Reliability Performance Measures into the Transportation Planning and Programming Processes (L05)

As part of the SHRP2 Tuesdays Webinar Series, TRB will conduct a webinar on September 17, 2013, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET that will explore the project, Incorporating Reliability Performance Measures into the Transportation Planning and Programming Processes, which developed a guide, a technical reference to the guide, and a final report. Register now.

There is no fee to attend this webinar and other webinars in the SHRP 2 Series; however, participants must register in advance. A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be provided to attendees who register and attend the webinar as an individual. This webinar is pending approval by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits.

This webinar will include information about how agencies can use reliability performance measurement to:

  • Learn how to use reliability performance measurement to understand and communicate reliability
  • Display emerging travel time reliability analysis tools to make program and project investment choices that address the reliability of the system
  • Learn how to incorporate reliability into existing analysis tools
  • Understand how the project guide may help users measure and track reliability performance, incorporate reliability into policy statements, evaluate reliability needs or deficiencies, and use reliability performance measures to make investment decisions

In addition, the webinar will review the project guide, which is organized around four key steps for incorporating reliability into the planning and programming process:

  1. Measuring and tracking reliability performance
  2. Incorporating reliability in policy statements
  3. Evaluating reliability needs and deficiencies
  4. Using reliability performance measurement to inform investment decisions

The intended audience for this webinar is federal, state, and local agencies involved in project, planning, operation prioritization, and investment decision making, specifically state departments of transportation (DOTs) and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs). Within DOTs and MPOs, this webinar would be useful to policy, planning, and operations personnel; metropolitan planners; and traffic engineers who have backgrounds in public policy, transportation planning, transportation operations, or transportation maintenance.

Webinar Outline:

  • Part 1: Overview of SHRP 2 mission, objectives of the Reliability focus area, and SHRP 2 research program
  • Part 2: Problems and perspectives of incorporating travel time reliability into transportation planning and programming processes
  • Part 3: Concepts, training materials, and practices included in the guidebook for measuring reliability performance, incorporating reliability in policy statements, evaluating reliability needs, and using reliability performance measurement to inform investment decisions and help agencies incorporate travel time reliability into their organizational processes
  • Part 4: Question and Answer session

The first 60 minutes of the webinar is for presentations and the final 30 minutes is reserved for audience questions.

Professional Development Hour information:
A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups, only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate.

Individuals registered as Florida PEs are required to email Reggie Gillum, [email protected], with their license number.
