The Path from Legacy Systems: An Agency's Playbook to Migrate, Update, and Modernize

Presented by FedInsider, WTOP, and Federal News Radio, this complimentary one-hour webinar will explore how agencies are tackling the migration of applications and email to new platforms and pushing for innovative new approaches to purchasing I.T. solution.

According to Gartner, stripping out legacy systems which represent 70% of federal IT spending is one of the public sector's most pressing technology imperatives in order to acquire new innovative IT products and services.

The administration is ushering out old technologies and accelerating the adoption of new technologies. At the same time, end of life support from Microsoft for XP and Exchange 2003 in April of 2014 are forcing agencies to migrate applications and email to new platforms to avoid tripling service costs.

This leaves agencies to assess an array of options to modernize and move to new platforms. Approaches like cloud, agency sharing, and thin client offer budget-saving ways to innovate while fulfilling their agency’s mission.

Tom Temin, anchor on The Federal Drive on Federal News Radio 1500 AM, will moderate an interactive discussion among a group of government and industry leaders about the current state of enterprise I.T. and how agencies are lowering cost through innovation.

You'll hear from leaders in government and industry as they discuss:
  • The Administration’s Cloud First policy and the roadmap to shared services
  • Trends and drivers in government’s enterprise computing platforms
  • The shifting business model for I.T. procurement
  • Steps agencies are taking to address mandatory desktop software upgrades
  • Tools in use across government to cut budget using innovation
