Form-Based Zoning: An Alternative to Traditional Ordinances
This event qualifies for 1.5 CLE
This live webinar will provide a basic understanding of form-based codes (FBC); how they are different, how they can be applied, and how they can help implement more sustainable communities.
Lessons learned and steps toward beginning the process will provide you with a clear path toward a successful form-based code. Legal and practical considerations associated with adopting form-based zoning regulations will be reviewed. Form-based provisions may not fit neatly into a municipality's existing zoning and subdivision framework. Practitioners must consider a variety of legal issues, such as the municipality's general authority to adopt form-based provisions, application and approval processes, and the treatment of nonconforming structures in a form-based district.
Learning Objectives
- You will be able to discuss first steps towards implementing a FBC.
- You will be able to review incorporation within a form-based district.
- You will be able to identify hybrid approval procedures.
- You will be able to describe application and approval processes.
