Federal News Radio Online Chat: Ask the CIO with Commerce's Steve Cooper

Steve Cooper, the Commerce Department's CIO, joins Federal News Radio for a free online chat to discuss his IT priorities around operational excellence, enterprisewide services and infrastructure modernization.

Steve Cooper became the Commerce CIO in June 2014. In this role, Cooper manages the department's IT budget, which was set at $1.9 billion in fiscal 2014. The fiscal 2015 spending data isn't available yet, but Commerce requested almost $2 billion for this year. Visit Commerce's IT dashboard for more background on investments.
This is Cooper's third tour of duty in government, previously serving as the CIO of the Homeland Security Department and the Federal Aviation Administration's Air Traffic Organization. He's also worked in the private sector as a principal at Deep Water Point Consulting, a guest lecturer at the National Defense University's iCollege and a partner with the Strativest Group.
