Speaker and Presenter Information

Marc Goodman - A global thinker, writer and consultant focused on the disruptive impact of advancing technologies on security, business and international affairs. Over the past twenty years, he has built his expertise in next generation security threats such as cyber crime, cyber terrorism and information warfare working with organizations such as Interpol, the United Nations, NATO, the Los Angeles Police Department and the U.S. Government. Marc frequently advises industry leaders, security executives and global policy makers on transnational cyber risk and intelligence and has operated in nearly seventy countries around the world.

Tom Ruff - As the Vice President of Public Sector, Tom is responsible for leading Akamai’s Sales, Marketing and Support initiatives within the Federal, State and Higher Education marketplace. Akamai provides services for accelerating and improving the secured delivery of content and applications over the Internet or an organizations private cloud infrastructure. Akamai offers services and solutions for digital media, software distribution, content and application delivery, IP application performance optimization as well as a suite of security offerings that allow businesses to meet their mission requirements. With more than 30 years of information technology industry experience, Tom has held numerous executive management positions at Fortune 500 companies such as EMC, Lotus Development Corp., Unisys Corp. and PictureTel / Polycom. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business.

John Skudlarek - Mr. Skudlarek develops and coordinates FCC information technology plans; establishes and administers IT policies; manages IT architecture; leads stakeholder outreach; directs capital planning and budget activities; approves IT acquisitions; and oversees performance management. John works closely with the CIO to implement FCC’s IT Transformation Program to foster innovation, transform business processes, speed delivery, reduce costs, and improve security. Mr. Skudlarek served as Acting FCC CIO from January to March, 2015.
