Finding ways to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into federal agencies’ workflows are becoming increasingly important to meeting agencies’ missions and fulfilling Americans’ needs. Between budgetary and workforce constraints, agencies are eager to find ways to do more with less, and AI has the greatest potential to achieve success.
Agencies wrestling with how to use AI to the greatest effect face common challenges and questions, such as:
- Understanding the differences between traditional AI, generative AI, and agentic AI
- Identifying the datasets that AI in government service should be trained with, and ensuring access to them
- Defining expectations, including relevant metrics, for using AI in public-facing interactions
Learning Objectives:
- Review the ways AI may already be assisting your agency and what priorities have been identified as next steps
- Explore whether generative AI can preserve organizational memory and lessons learned, to minimize the impact of workforce turnover or retirements
- Outline a strategy for addressing government-specific concerns, such as security, privacy, and accuracy
